The name Earthkeld is derived from the Sylvin language, as Earthkeld was founded by Cyih Colburn, who was culturaly Sylvin.
Climate
Earthkeld has a yearly average temperature of 25°C (77°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 30°C (86°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 20°C (68°F). Earthkeld receives an average of 143 cm/y (56 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Earthkeld covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2756 m (9041 ft) above sea level.
Overview
Earthkeld was founded durring the early 11th century, by Cyih Colburn. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Cyih Colburn.
Earthkeld was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Earthkeld is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.
Earthkeld is buildings are speckled and packed arround broad packed earth streets with seemingly no patern to them. It appears as if the town's residents simply built streets as they pleased and squeazed buildings in wherever and howeave rpossible, creating an organic, frustrating to navigate, maze of a town. The town has a defencive wall made from large clay bricks. The wall is constructed to the exact specifications of millitary fortifications, but the nature of its clay brick construction leaves it vulnerable to even outdated siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. The town's brittle defences are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

Civic Infrastructure

Earthkeld possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.
Earthkeld has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Earthkeld's natural decorations nor waterways.
Earthkeld has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.
Cultural Notes
Earthkeld's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is inspired by the natural world, characterized by sinuous, sculptural, organic shapes, arches, curving lines, and sensual ornamentation. Common motifs included stylized versions of leaves, flowers, vines, insects, animals, and other natural elements. Decorative elements found on the inside and outside of buildings include intricate mosaic work, curved windows, and decorative trim work. .
Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is recurring in Earthkeld.
The Lizard, Narav near Earthkeld are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.
Earthkeld's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves drinking to channel Illusion energies of tier 1 via recitation of poetic epics.
